Our specialized one-on-one consultation approach is strategic, focused on your specific needs, and most importantly, creates action and forward momentum. Here's what we do:
Assess
We always begin by getting to know you better. We conduct a 360° assessment of your nonprofit organization and learn where you are strong and where you might need some help. The assessment involves analyzing the performance of your organization using as many sources as possible (board staff, donors, volunteers), as opposed to one-on-one input from just the Executive Director. The assessment provides a holistic view of your organization by collating opinions from multiple perspectives and covers board governance, planning & evaluation, financial management, personnel management, financial condition and funding strategies. The assessment is voluntary and is usually done through an online survey.
Plan
Next we look at your goals and aspirations for your nonprofit. Where do you want to be next year at this time in each of the areas covered by the assessment? We help you set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely) goals for your future, and plot a strategy to help get your there, including benchmarks and metrics to help you measure progress. Our development plan will capitalize on your strengths and utilize our support in those areas where you may be weak. In this way, we support you where you need it most and don't waste time or money on things that are not needed to grow your organization. It's efficiency and effectiveness working hand in hand to get you to your destination - wherever that might be for you!
Stabilize
Using the data from the 360° assessment, we help you sure up areas in which you may not be excelling. Like a stool with a weak or broken leg, we want to be sure no one falls over when they sit down. So, we repair things that need repairing, prioritizing those things that will have the biggest and quickest impact. Before you are are ready to grow, you must be stable and thriving in many areas, and so we help you build the infrastructure needed to able to handle the growth when it comes. Identifying a communications strategy, improving volunteer recruitment, ensuring thoughtful leadership succession, updating your technology, or improving how you measures your outcomes, all build your capacity to effectively fulfill your mission.
